Who We Are
Lareina is a cookware brand for New Zealand home cooks and bakers, with a focus on cast iron.
Our range includes cookware for sourdough and bread baking alongside Dutch ovens, loaf pans and other pieces for everyday cooking.
We choose products based on how they will actually be used at home: how easy they are to handle, how well they retain heat, how they fit into a normal oven or kitchen, and how much care they require.
How We Design
We start with how the cookware will actually be used.
For covered bread baking, a fitted lid helps retain steam around the dough during the early part of the bake. Shallow bases make loading and scoring easier, while cast iron provides the steady heat needed for baking and browning.
For everyday cookware, we look for practical proportions, comfortable handling and designs that work well on standard home cooktops and in the oven.
Our Materials
Enamelled Cast Iron
Our enamelled cookware has a glass-based enamel surface fused to the cast iron.
The enamel creates a non-reactive cooking surface that requires no seasoning and can be used with acidic ingredients such as tomatoes, wine and citrus.
Cast iron underneath provides the heat retention needed for baking, roasting, simmering and everyday cooking.
Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron
Our pre-seasoned cast iron has no enamel coating. The cooking surface is seasoned with 100% vegetable oil and is ready to cook with when it arrives.
With regular use and proper care, the seasoning will continue to develop over time.
Our Promise
We want our cookware to be used for years of baking and cooking at home.
Cast iron is heavy, and occasionally a piece may be damaged in transit. If your order arrives chipped, cracked or otherwise damaged, contact us and we’ll help arrange a replacement.
