I have the .5, 1.5, and now the 3qt. I found the first two on amazon, they didn't have the 3qt so I went looking and came upon them here. I am disappointed that the blue three quart shows the gold top but was sent without that feature. I wanted them to match. I wo.t bother returning it, but you need to be aware you maynot get what is shown.
Made a nice pot of chicken soup in this and the capacity is just right for minimal leftovers. Finish is very good.
I'm in love with this Enameled Cast Iron Dutch Oven, bought the 1.5qt and had to have the size with the gold top handle, looks great with the black. I really wish the 3qt size had a gold top handle but it doesn't. The overall design of these dutches is like no other, I've never in my lifetime seen an owl shaped cast iron dutch oven....and I've worked in specialty stores, like Crate & Barrel, I also work in a professional kitchen... so when I saw this and had to buy it!The overall build quality and finish is top notch, feels professional, there's no chipping, its heavy, she's thick and love that the lid handle screw is sealed into the bottom of the lid, no rusting and less gaps to trap food debris. Thought if someone ever needed to replace the handle or it broke off, that would be a big problem, can't repair or replace knob. Anyways, I always take good care of my cookware but accidents do happen, so... just buy 2... just in case!I was so sad that the 1.5qt green option was sold out, but very happy with the black glossy and sleek look. Size is perfect to make some tomato soup for two or.... to make some gravy for the holidays. Though you could make a small sourdough loaf or prepare a side of veggies for a nice meal. Possibilitys are endless with this very manageable size, it's not too big yet not too small, it's almost too perfect! Will be buying all the sizes available to match, the price is so phenomenal, you just can't beat it!
This pot is just adorable, The craftsmanship and quality is excellent. The color yellow is richly pigmented and bright, came in perfect and flawless. My wife likes to use oil on the insides to help out before loading. It is already easy to clean but with the oil makes cleaning a breeze. This pot is becoming the most used pot in the kitchen. We don't store the pot with other pots for fear of chipping but it is so attractive and whimsical that it looks great on the counter. Also she does not wash it immediately when it is hot to avoid any possible crack in the enamel. We are considering getting a second one.
Cute pot. Even the bigger one is a little small but it’s great for small loafs and meals for 2
This is possibly the cutest the thing I've ever seen. I got the green one. Love the color. It is solid! Nicely weighted. The size says 16 oz. I think it would be great to make little loaves of bread, individual soups, lava cakes...the list goes on. I think I might get another color and use them as salt and pepper cellars by my cooktop just to have them on display the whole. So stinkin' cute!

I bought this for a gift for my friend and its super cute!
This little cast iron bird is super cute and great quality. I can't wait to use it.
works great and is cute
substantial weight to this cute pot!
This is adorable and works like a charm. After I opened the package I immediately roasted some garlic cloves. Turned out perfect! I will get a lot of fun use out of it! I got the green and it is an amazing color
Shipping took a VERY long time, almost a month. Pot is wicked cute and worth the wait. Can't speak to it's durability as it just sets on my stove being glorious
Nice, cute little pot.
Works well for making bread. Added it to my owl collection
Precious and well made
Darling! Good weight to it. Feels like it's going to last. Beautiful color. Easy to clean. Great for sourdough bun bread. I'm going to buy another.
This little cooking vessel is ridiculously cute. I love the small, single-ish serving size and go out of my way looking for recipes that will fit perfectly in it. It's really fun, I got two colors.
Not only is it cute but works like a charm!!
Great cast iron pot for sourdough bread. Durable and cute owl pattern in yellow.Round cast iron pot in yellow with owl pattern on lid.
Cuter than the picture. Got the small one for the two of us. Im going to order the large one for a gift. I have several Le Cruecet and this one is a great price for a good cast iron.
I wanted something in which to cook leftover soup, which has a lid to prevent splatters. I bought four of these enameled cast-iron cocottes because the price was unbelievably inexpensive for this type of product. We have been exceptionally happy with all four, using them to reheat leftover soup on an induction burner. Soup heats up so quickly, we have no desire to use the microwave. I consider the quality outstanding, and they are soooo cute. I certainly can recommend them for induction cooking. They are oven-safe, too. The wing handles make them easy to lift. As noted by others, the wings get hot, too, so use hotpads. They would make great gifts. I highly recommend these charming cocottes.
great pot substantial! wish it came in blue!
yellow so cute
Arrived with 2 chips in it, one on the base and one on the lid
Beautiful heavy cast iron and enamel owl! I roast my garlic cloves in it then freeze for later use. Holds about 3 cups whole cloves. Lid is tight fitting holds in the steam well.. handle is well made and is gold in appearance. Wings are the handles and they slightly curve downward so its easy to grab them even with thick oven mitts which is a rare thing in similar products!! would totally buy this again.. might have to get one for my daughter for christmas!
Super cute. Use it to melt butter or make garlic confit. My enameling is holding up.
The cutest little coquette! I use it as a small simmer pot and it looks lovely sitting on my stove!
Frequently asked questions
What can I cook in the Owl Casserole?
The Owl Casserole is designed for small-batch cooking, baking and serving.
The 0.5 L size works well for individual portions, baked eggs, warm dips and desserts. The 1.4 L size is better suited to soups, rice, vegetables and smaller meals.
Both sizes can be used in the oven or on a suitable hob.
Does the enamelled interior need seasoning?
No. The enamel coating protects the cast iron cooking surface, so it does not require seasoning.
Simply wash the pot after use and dry it thoroughly before storing.
Can I use it on an induction hob?
Yes. The Owl Casserole is compatible with induction, gas, electric and ceramic hobs.
For the smaller 0.5 L size, check that the base is suitable for your induction hob's minimum pan diameter.
Can I bake bread in it?
You can use it for small bread recipes, but both sizes are much smaller than a standard bread Dutch oven.
For regular-sized sourdough loaves, we recommend our Round or Oval Bread Oven instead.
Can it go in the dishwasher?
We recommend washing by hand to help preserve the enamel finish.
Use warm, soapy water and a soft sponge. Avoid abrasive cleaning products.
How hot can the casserole get?
The Owl Casserole is oven safe up to 260°C.
Always use oven mitts when handling the pot or lid, as the cast iron becomes very hot during cooking.
Is it made from real cast iron?
Yes. Both sizes are made from solid cast iron with an enamel finish.
Unlike ceramic or stoneware mini casseroles, these are genuine cast iron cooking pots.
